Nyragim - cap 1.
I don't know where I got this fascination with space from, but it's my greatest passion.
My name is Joseph; this name is because my mother was extremely religious and insisted on naming me after a character from the Bible.
I've never been very religious, but sometimes I go to church with my mother.
I study astronomy in college for about one year; I simply love it. I don't have many friends, but I don't think that matters much, after all, I prefer the company of my telescope at home. Whenever I get back from college, I spend hours looking at space.
But everything changed... the day I discovered something...
It was November 19th, and I was at home after college. My parents were in the kitchen, and even though I had work to finish, I decided to take a look through my telescope for a while. I stared at the stars for half an hour when I saw something absolutely incredible.
Do you know what a black hole is? It's the result of the collapse of massive stars, forming something that sucks everything into itself, something so powerful and strong that not even light can escape it. At that moment I saw one of these through my telescope.
I instantly froze as soon as I looked at it. It was impossible for me to be seeing a black hole, because not even the closest black hole to Earth can be seen with a regular telescope. I stood there paralyzed for a good 5 minutes staring at it, until I grabbed my cell phone to take a picture.
I positioned the phone, took the picture, and sent it to my friends. After a while they replied, praising the photo, and I immediately asked if they weren't seeing the black hole. They said no, but I could see it perfectly in the photo, and I kept saying it was there. They asked me if I was joking.
Joking? They really weren't seeing it, so I looked at the telescope again, and the black hole was still there, but as soon as I looked at it, it started to glow and glow until my telescope was completely white. I took my eye away immediately; it was burning and blurry.
I looked at the phone camera, and it was red. I looked at the previous photo again, and the black hole had disappeared from it. I was very confused, and I looked at the telescope again, but with the other eye, and it had disappeared from there too, and the telescope was normal again.
I thought I was going crazy, maybe it was college, so I decided to tell my friends it was a joke, and I sat down at the living room table to finish my work. My eye was still burning, but I could see well. I finished my work and went to bed.
