Hi, I just recently learned my sweet girl has an agressive cancer (lowkey crying while writing this) and it brings so many questions. She is my first bernese, so I know stuff only through internet. My biggest question is will I ever have that bond again?? Will I ever care for a dog as much as I care for her? We adopted her a few months after I had the worst moments of my life, the moment she saw me she jumped on me and yk it just clicked. Now she's a major part of my life (like all dogs are). We sleep together, when I eat she puts her head on my tigh so I can give her some food (I obviously don't wouldn't want her to get sick). And so now that I'm confronted with the fact I'm gonna lose her, my baby, so soon it just breaks my heart. I can't sleep without her, when I do I get nightmares from past traumas and wake up stressed as hell. How do you deal with that?? And did you ever "find" your bernese again but in another dog?? I'm so scared, I was aware I wouldn't have her my whole life but I hoped it would at least be in like 2 years, she's only 6 years old and has so much life in her :( And if anyone was wondering, we won't put her through chemotherapy. We humans already have a hard time going through that mentally and I love her too much to give her a life filled with meds and other side effects. We'll see if it's metastasis, and if it is we'll just give her the best life she can. If not, we'll do one surgery :)
