Where do you get the confidence to be a dom?
I'm male, 33, hetero cis, AUDHD. I know I want to be a dom. I have been taking some workshops, reading, listening to podcasts and actually playing with some partners in that way, but I have trouble finding the confidence to inhabit the role for long periods of time, not "breaking character", not breaking the tension or even asking truly what I want and not what I think the other person wants from me. In my vainilla life I'm usually a "caring lover", more on the sweet than the rough side and I tend to give a lot more than receiving... my sexual partners like a lot about me (as I do), but I want to explore a more dominant energy/role and I'm kind of lost on how to get the confidence to do it (and just a "pleasure dom" but a "I can degrade you and use you for my pleasure dom", like in CNC practices). Sometimes I even feel that even in my fantasies is hard because I feel that I don't have the "permission" to ask for what I would like.
This only happens to me in sex/bdsm practices. In my daily life I actually like to hold positions of power and feel very comfortable when doing it and I'm also usually very confident and assertive. But in bdsm practices... I'm really struggling.
Im hosting a kink/sex party with dear friends soon and any tip you can share with me would be very appreciated ❤️
