Expiration on NOA2

So we got our approval on 8/14/25 and it says valid to 12/13/25. We just got the notice that our petition is going to the embassy. Since that can take a while to do, do we need to request to extend our petition? We just got the embassy transfer email notice today, neither of us have gotten any physical mail yet. I’ve seen some say they’ll extend it automatically and I’ve seen some say that it requires us to contact the embassy to extend it.
