Tellers, What would you do if a kidnapping victim walks in and hands you a note?
I read a story about a gal in California who handed a teller a note saying that she was being kidnapped.
This made me think of when I was a teller at a us bank branch back in 2017.
Here's what I think I would do, based on what I remember from our security protocol:
-
pull the little security lever under the teller desk to call the cops
-
when corporate security calls say something random such as what time the branch closes, avoid using the secret word for 'all clear'
-
stall, I'd probably drop my drawer of cash on the floor, 'accidentally' unplug my computer or do something to keep everyone occupied
Is there anything else? Would you ever escort the kidnapping victim to the back room for her protection?
