NXTNA Showdown

So I’m currently watching NXT, and it got me thinking of the whole TNA Invasion storyline

What was the point?

We had vague rumblings that the TNA talent were apparently unhappy, then a full-on invasion angle before No Mercy. What were the stakes of the 5-on-5 matches at Showdown? Seems a little weak, and since then it feels like the entire angle’s been dropped
