This game is excessively frustrating
I know there are already a lot of '2xko bad' posts but after playing the game for a good few hours I'm beginning to agree with the sentiment.
I don't have a ton of prior 2d fighting game experience outside of platform fighters so I suppose you can take this with a grain of salt.
Some of these could be chalked up to a skill issue but skill doesn't seem to be the root of some of these problems.
- Pulse combo feels poorly implemented. It was explained once in the tutorial but it was before everything most of everything else in the tutorial, making it easy to forget exactly what it does. Doesn't help that it is tucked away in the options.
The sheer amount of damage a pulse combo does is stupid, repeatedly pressing one button shouldn't do a several second long combo (Often 8+ hits) followed by an automatic super that takes off roughly a third of your health. It makes button mashing when you have an opening legitimately viable at lower levels of play. It should only realistically do a 3-4 hit combo for far less damage given the difficulty of execution. If these pulse combos could trigger only when button mashing the whole system could be far less disjointed as it wouldn't need to be a toggleable option anymore.
For some reason pulse combo turned itself on when I booted up the game, causing it to interfere with the actual combos I'm trying to do.
- Ranked rarely paired me with an opponent of similar skill. When in Iron, after some practice in the combo trials and casual play it became so easy it was boring. Several games later and I hit bronze all of a sudden I'm spending more time watching my character get comboed than actually playing the game.
- Ahri, Jinx, and Teemo reward camping excessively. I'd have opponents huddled in the corner spamming projectiles, seems impossible to approach at times without getting damaged (Except Ahri, but people still camp as her).
- Damage nullification and I-frames feel unintuitive. Sometimes when I hit someone who is on the ground it works, other times it passes straight through them and I can't tell why. This also applies when someone is standing and in a combo. I've tried multiple times to combo a light attack into a throw only for my character's hands to phase straight through my opponent. I've also had several instances where an attack tanks another for no apparent reason. It also feels unclear as to whether or not I can shield after performing an attack.
