A Poem About My Ex

I am not a professional. Rough draft. Thank you.

I let this dust settle I let the sparks fade I bit my tongue until it bled instead of saying your name I laid in the dark And I pictured your face I looked for a sign that you still loved me anyway But the darkness gave me its ghoulish embrace Now I wake up in the cold all alone I whisper in the dark “baby come home” But the whisper simply echos off hollow walls And I become one with the black like I never existed at all I laid there forever waiting for your call My skin started to fade to nothing at all I lie here just skeletal now, nothing but bones Our love is no more, you’re not coming home
