[Event] Delivering A King

Event

2nd Month A, 46 AC, Dragonstone

A single Targaryen cog drifted into the harbor. The only Targaryen aboard a corpse.

Two knights, each bearing his own coat of arms and unknown to the men of Dragonstone, crossed the creaking boards. They made the necessary arrangements with the harbormaster and presented a writ marking them as men of import. Important enough to request an audience with whoever now commanded the rocky isle in place of a Prince.

Behind them came six men bearing a coffin. That was why they were here. That was what they would present.

“I am Ser Loras of Pychford,” the first introduced himself once they were received.

“And I, Ser Harry ‘Hammer,’” the second followed.

“We come in the name of Lord Prentys of House Tully, Lord of Riverrun,” Loras said, “to honor Maegor Targaryen’s last wish: that he be delivered to Dragonstone, burned in the manner of his ancestors, and interred with them. My lord offers deep apologies and feels great shame that he could not personally see the last leg of Maegor’s journey done.” He struck a fist to his chest and bowed in respect. Harry did the same.

Within the coffin, Maegor lay silent. Embalmed and bound in linen by the Silent Sisters, the corpse would have been unidentifiable were it not encased in Maegor Targaryen’s immaculate black plate. Then from chin to navel rested Blackfyre in its sheath. The armor bore scarcely a dent. Prentys had struck but a single blow. Only Aegon’s crown was absent.
