Fell in love with a student
Never thought I’d be posting here.
I (38m) have been married for 14 years with my wife (39f) and have 2 daughters (12 and 9 yo).
Marriage is very good, after a time with many fights. Things are peaceful and we found common ground in significant issues. My wife is gorgeous, and now I’m above weight.
The major problem is that I’m supervising a student (33f) that is very similar to me. She’s also gentle, supportive, funny and caring. She’s seductive, not in a sexual way, more in a oversharing manner, that captivates and entices.
I fell hard for her. I don’t know if it’s reciprocal, but we get along well. And I’ve gone through my normal professor-student boundaries. Nothing inadequate or cheating, but talking about my personal life, past dilemas and family problems. Like she does, when she comments about herself and previous relationships.
I know this is impossible and will just create chaos. But, she had a huge impact on me. When I meet her, I feel motivated and full of energy.
My relationship with the students in my area are like this, as I really enjoy teaching. But in her case it’s something even more intense.
I feel it’s hard to stop thinking about her. I’ve even found an expression, called Limerence, to describe what I’m feeling.
I won’t cheat, divorce or pursue her. As I’m not into cheating, nor a teenager anymore. But it’s consuming me. I’ll suffer in silence till this feelings fade.
That’s all. I literally don’t have anyone else to share this. I’m in therapy, but not comfortable to talk about this with my psychologist.
Anyone has been through something alike?
