Ph balancing scalp after bleaching?

So the last time I used box dye I left it on too long, and it was hard to get the feeling of bleach slightly burning my scalp, it was there (the feeling) for a day or two at least. I'm thinking about doing it again but this time be smarter in my application and go in with more and better tools in doing so and a plan. (I have long hair that's thick, not curly).

Is there a way I can balance the pH of my scalp after bleaching? Could I use like summer's eve or something?

Apologies if this is very novice or dumb questions. Just a girl in this economy with grown out roots.
