Energy folks — what’s the hardest part about managing PPAs, service agreements, and other power contracts once they’re signed?
Hey all — I’m exploring a potential product solutions around contract management in the power sector and wanted to learn from people actually living the pain.
From the conversations I’ve had so far (mostly with IPPs, utilities, and corporate buyers), it seems like there’s a common pattern:
- Once a contract is signed, it disappears into SharePoint or someone’s inbox.
- Settlements and compliance checks happen in Excel, often manually.
- Data needed for audits or disputes is scattered across trading systems, O&M logs, and email threads.
- No one looks at the contract again until something goes wrong.
If you’ve been on the asset management, settlements, or contract management side, I’d love to hear:
- What’s the biggest recurring pain point after signature — data access, compliance tracking, dispute resolution, something else?
- Have you tried using ETRMs, SharePoint workflows, or third-party platforms to fix it? Did any actually help?
- Is this a real problem you'd pay to solve, or just a minor nuisance?
I’m not here to pitch — just doing early discovery for something I’m building and would really appreciate hearing what’s real vs what’s noise. Even a few sentences about what frustrates you most helps a ton.
