Dear you,

SpoilerLovers

I don’t really know why I’m writing this now. Maybe because carrying this story alone has become too heavy, and my heart keeps whispering your name into rooms where you don’t exist anymore.

Our story was short in time, but enormous inside me.

We only met in person once. Isn’t it strange, how a single moment can divide a life into “before” and “after”? You were that moment for me.

I remember how you looked at me, not with urgency, not with expectation… but with a kind of curiosity, like you were reading a language only the two of us knew. Something in me recognized you immediately, and that terrified me.

I disappeared after that. I ghosted you. I didn’t call, didn’t explain. You didn’t deserve that.

At the time, I told myself it was because of the circumstances, because life was complicated, because I wasn’t ready. But the truth, the one I’ve only recently learned how to say out loud, is that I was scared.

Not scared of you as a person. Scared of the way I felt. Scared that if I stepped one inch closer, I would never be able to walk away again.

You were everything I had ever wanted, and I didn’t know what to do with that.

I didn’t choose you, not because I didn’t want to, but because wanting you felt too big for the life I had at the time. So I chose the path that felt “safer.” The one I thought would protect me from heartbreak, even though it broke me anyway.

And now, somehow, it has been almost eight years. Eight years carrying a memory that never dissolved.

I built a life far from you. I told myself I was fine. That it was just a moment. That you would forget. And maybe you did. Maybe I was only a footnote in your story.

But you became a whole chapter in mine.

Sometimes I wonder if you ever thought about me after I vanished, if you ever looked at a message that never arrived and wondered why.

Years passed. You continued living. I continued pretending.

But then, out of nowhere, you came back to my mind like a sudden sunrise, bright, impossible to ignore.

And I realized the truth I had been running from:

I loved you. I loved you from the beginning. And I ran not because it was nothing, but because it was everything.

I think about the life we never had, the conversations that never happened, the cities we never explored, the ordinary mornings we never shared.

I imagine us cooking, walking, laughing in some quiet neighborhood, choosing furniture, naming children we don’t have.

I know it’s foolish to love someone I barely got to know, but somehow I did. Maybe when two souls recognize each other, time stops mattering.

I don’t know where you are today. I don’t know who you love, or if you ever think about me when it rains, or when a song you like comes on, or when you see someone who looks a little bit like I did.

Sometimes I wish I had the courage to reach out, to tell you everything with my real voice instead of anonymous letters on the internet.

But life isn’t a movie, and I don’t want to disturb your peace. I only want to honor what we had — even if it was small, even if it was brief, even if it was unfinished.

You were the right person arriving at the wrong time.

And I’ve spent years trying to forgive myself for walking away from the one thing I never stopped wanting.

If there is a universe where we found each other again, where I stayed, where I was brave, I hope we are happy there.

And if this universe keeps us apart forever, I want you to know that you were a quiet miracle in my life. One I still carry gently.

If by chance our paths ever cross again, I hope I recognize you soon enough, and I hope this time I don’t run.

Until then… I’ll love you silently.

— Your sweetheart
