Question about administering medication

So my one of my budgies have to take oral medication. The vet showed me how to make a busgie burrito and everything.

My question is, its very hard to catch her in thier cage. I'm positive itll be easier to take her out, distract her with millet then firmly grasp her. Or will that risk giving her a negative association with outside time? I figured it would do the same to her cage, I'm just looking to make this as least traumatizing as possible.
