Crazy Cardboard Case with a Bolt!
Hey there, I recently ran across this CD and wanted to share the unusual packaging the CDs shipped in.
Here are some images of it ^(†)
Notice that there is a plastic "bolt" that sticks out several millimeters from the front of the cardboard case. It goes all the way through to the back! In the final image you can see why it is there: It allows the three smaller inner sleeves to "fan out" so that you can remove the CD.
The outer case necessarily larger than your usual CD 'jewel case' so that it can contain the inner sleeves and their contents. It doesn't sit uniformly with other CDs on the shelf. Additionally, you can't stack any CDs on top of this collection either, because the bolt is tall enough that it sticks out and makes the whole thing sit unevenly.
Fortunately, the plastic bolt can be disassembled, and the inner cardboard sleeves removed completely, but I don't know what I would do with all of it if I were to re-home the CDs into regular cases.
I've never run across this before and though that you all would appreciate seeing it!
Here is the Discogs entry for this release
† Full disclosure, I've lazily borrowed the above images from Discogs, to whom I am immensely grateful. If you would like to see more or different images, let me know and I will post them later when I can. Thanks for reading!!
