Why do filipinos rich-shame anyone who becomes successful?
How do you protect yourself and your finances from all the envy and hate?
Why is there so much hate toward people who are financially successful? whether they worked hard for it, got lucky, or came from a well off family? It’s like the moment someone starts doing well, people automatically assume they’re arrogant, spoiled, or undeserving.
Some people did work their way up. Some were born into it. Some just got lucky at the right time. But whatever the path, why is there this weird bitterness toward anyone who’s not struggling?
I keep seeing posts and comments mocking those who enjoy nice things… a good car, a designer bag, a nice condo. What’s wrong with liking what you worked (or inherited) for? Why can’t people just let others live without turning everything into a moral debate about “privilege”?
Yes, privilege exists. But so does effort. So does gratitude. And so does enjoying what life has given you without guilt.
It just feels like people have forgotten that someone else’s success isn’t your loss. Envy and resentment have become the loudest emotions online.
I don’t know if it’s jealousy, frustration, or just people projecting their own disappointments… but I wish this culture of “hate the rich” would stop turning into “hate anyone who’s doing okay.”
Can’t we just be happy for people sometimes?
