92 elite compact (wannabe LTT). How screwed am I?

I put a 92 compact on layaway from Bud's with the intention of sending it off to Langdon for the trigger job, new hammer, and have a flat trigger installed. I know I failed to do my due diligence but now I'm hearing that the Tennessee plant sucks with QC with machine marks, burrs and a horrible finish. Should I go through with my original plan or just be on the lookout for a Italian made pistol? Thanks for your help.
