Looking for a close pivot out of a retaliate tank elementalist build

Recently respecced into the tankiest build i could find, only to realize that retaliate is kinda clunky and weird to play. Either is there a seperate skill i can use during the downtime, or can I easily pivot to a different burn skill? What would work best with what I have, what quick swap can I make to have a slightly more active playstyle
