I need a Dropbox/Mac expert. Company's Dropbox is synced with the Mac I use for Editing, but the Mac's storage is constantly full even though it shouldn't be. When searching "This Mac" for what to delete, online-only Dropbox files show up too, but it doesn't show a difference in Finder.

Forgive the butchered title. Let me explain more clearly:

The company's Dropbox consists of probably north of 2000 folders (I help manage it a little), and one of those folders we'll call "Renders." Now, when a video is rendered, it goes to that folder, where it is then named and organized and then put into the correct Dropbox online only folder.

Renders, as well as other Dropbox folders, appear within Finder on the Mac, however, most of these folders are marked "Online Only," meaning the files should only appear on Dropbox and not take up space on the Mac itself. But Renders is not an online only folder, and we don't want it to be, for various reasons, so when a file is placed into Renders it exists both on Dropbox and on the Mac, thus taking up space on the Mac's ssd. Even though files in Renders take up ssd space, they are only in Renders temporarily, usually 1 day.

Now, the issue is while I used to have ~400gb of empty space to use on the Mac, that space has suddenly shrunk to 150-200gb and myself, nor my co-workers, know why. This is annoying because sometimes I will need to render a few days worth of footage and just let it do it's thing and organize it the next day. Which was ok, not ideal but ok, with 400gb of space. But with 200 or less I now have to stop other work a couple times each day and name/organize everything in order to make space for the render to continue. And I fear the space may be getting smaller, slowly but surely.

So I should just search and delete large files we don't need anymore, right? Well, when I use Finder to search for large files that I can delete, what happens is it shows me all of the online only files as well, but in the search it doesn't show which files are online only and which are actually on the Mac, even though I click the "This Mac" button for the search.

So how do I find files that are JUST on the Mac itself? It is really frustrating.
