A short tidbit about the Game Station experiments
Back in the Chapter 4 ARG, I suspected that the Bigger Bodies used in the Game Station were among the earlier experiments due to Quinn Navidson's (A.K.A. Yarnaby) Game Station assessments.
- During his second pass, Quinn is noted to have bitten the heads off several Huggy toys used in Whack-a-Wuggy. For obvious reasons, I assumed this to be the actual Mini-Huggies.
- In his first pass, Quinn is stated to have lost in Statues once, so I assumed he got caught by PJ the first time.
In both cases, Quinn seemingly encountered these experiments, and for that to have happened, I concluded that, aside from Mommy, these experiments were made in between Boxy and Yarnaby's creation dates.
Then, the Fortnite collab happened, and some of the notes revealed that the Game Station toys were part of the 1700-series, not the 1600-series as I previously suspected. In hindsight, this makes a large amount of sense, and it brings a lot of implications to the table.
- Even restrained, there's no way any of the 10-foot tall Mini-Huggies would've allowed a small child like Quinn to do something as dangerous as biting their heads off. Plus, the assessment form refers to the obstacles used in Whack-a-Wuggy as "stuffed toys", so this definitely shows that the games weren't initially designed around using Bigger Bodies as obstacles.
- In continuation of the above, Quinn losing once in Statues may have been because he moved in the light at least once, and that was the original lose condition for the game.
- If the Game Station toys were part of the 1600-series, then, going by Harley's words in the Prisoner Profiles, they would've exhibited similar behavioral patterns to experiments like Pianosaurus and Boxy, who were animalistic and too aggressive to directly work with. There are multiple pieces of evidence suggesting that Playtime had measures in place to ensure the children don't die during the games, so them being able to train experiments like Bunzo and PJ wouldn't make sense if Yarnaby was the first experiment with taming qualities.
- Timeline-wise, we can conclude that the Game Station was created before or right after the acceptance of the BBI, and the obstacle toys were added in later (possibly in November) to help the company produce better results from the orphans playing.
On a separate note, we also have an implied confirmation for why Mommy spared PJ. It's not because she's afraid of fighting him, nor was she was too focused on killing us that she neglected or forgot. Turns out, she just liked PJ, and she retained enough of her compassion for him that she left him alone instead of murking him like the others.
