Ted Kennedy had won, but it wasn’t just a simple victory. Every single state was won by Kennedy, including the District of Columbia. President Bush calls to concede, knowing he has had the worst performance for an incumbent since Herbert Hoover, or even… ever. The Bush campaign had many failures, but a defeat was nearly guaranteed in this case, a leadership crisis, and a betrayal of the platform his ticket secured the election on. President-Elect Kennedy steps behind the podium, the audience roaring in celebration, but there’s one thing that makes everyone go quiet. “I pledge to be a one-term president. It’s time that the torch is passed off to a generation that holds these same ideals, that can work with more strength than I could have ever.” During Kennedy’s term, he would implement workplace reforms, the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as KennedyCare, and would cement the Kennedy legacy. Former President Bobby Kennedy would pass away on April 5th, 1988.
The Democratic Kennedy/Clinton ticket would win a staggering 70.27% of the PV
The Republican Bush/Baker ticket with 18.92%
The Communist Party Hall/Davis Ticket with 2.7%(disqualified)
The Left Alliance Fonda/Chomsky ticket with 2.7%
The Alternative Democratic Electors Tickets Cheney/Dole and Glenn/Askew with 5.4%
