I don’t know who to turn into for advice or help. Today is 5years and 6 months since I lost my husband of 45 almost 46 years of marriage . He died during early COVID pandemic due to medical neglect. I hired a lawyer and took him about 10 months to investigate/ he has an investigative doctor to do the investigation/ and he decided to take my case. I signed the contract and he send me 14 pages of the documents outlining what was not done and should have been done. I thought the lawyer was doing good job until second year when I received in the mail ambulance call record. It was total lie and fabrication what has actually happened . After reading it I went in shock again and deep depression and didn’t even realize that 7 months had passed. I called the lawyer to discuss it and he told me his not going to pursue any case against paramedics due to that there was no proof of life/ after I administered CPR as per 911 operator my husband opened his eyes and was lot at me for couple of seconds before slowly closing his eyes. I spoke about it with the operator/ . So I told my lawyer - paramedics are going away with murder? And he started laughing and saying yes there are going away with murder. I was in utter shock and I just shut down. After that he scheduled preparation for discovery via zoom which is the first time I actually saw his face. After he scheduled discovery , which later was canceled and did cancel following two discoveries which they supposed to take place 2 years ago - October 2023. After that I haven’t have any contact with him. Texted him - no reply. Called him - always busy. Than I found out about something called Freedom of Information from a police station and I applied and received it but it wasn’t a complete list. So I called the supervisor officer who helped me to received complete documentation. I contacted lawyer and faxed him the documents, but to this day I didn’t receive any response. This was in 2024 . Four months ago I suddenly received a letter via post that he is not going to further pursue any legal action because it’s very difficult to win . I received 4 more copies and one register copy. I called him after I received second letter left message without him calling back or contacting me. Last week I made the appointment to speak to him so today finally he called and I recorded the conversation so I have a proof what he said. He was arrogant, completely changed his tune. Hardly listening to me . He obviously made up his mind and was so unreasonable, refuse to listen to and acknowledge the fact that he stated in the documents he sent it to me. He was just like parrot saying over and over again that is a difficult claim to win . When I refuse to accept it he suddenly suggests that he could do a review but I will have to pay and it will cost me $5000 -$6000 but still insisting that it won’t be winning claim. I said I would think about it. He send me already email that$3000 it will cost and I should send him a check . Sorry for a long explanation not sure if it’s clear enough because I’m in such a distress. I just need help, advice or input because I don’t know what to do.
