Need to buy a car reliable for my daughter and I we live in leduc, Alberta, Canada please help I have no guidance

As title says I'm just needing some solid help on buying something reliable for under 7,000$ I do not qualify for a loan unfortunately. But am willing to work hard to save more if needed the only advice for vehicles I have gotten from a mahcanic my birthmom dated was Honda or Toyota hehe I'm very handy and try to fix things myself and am pretty good on staying on top of maintenance and always willing to learn and try to solve an issue myself so definitely want a car that I've been saving for a while to invest in to be something I love and not complicated so maybe older the better as I have had no experience in new vehicles and not so good with tech haha
