Philosophy and Religion - A marriage no one thought could work
My mom told me that religion and philosophy don’t go together. But philosophy is the search for truth, and religion is how to love.
My mind wanted one, and my heart wanted the other a marriage no one said could work. But I’m stubborn, so I promised I’d find a way.
Because what is love without truth? The action becomes as flimsy as a feather, while truth makes it firm as a mountain.
If I don’t know my friend is an alcoholic, my loving act of buying them an old fashioned becomes just the opposite.
So I fought that uphill battle, my mind and heart both equally exhausted. But as stubborn is, stubborn does I fought another day.
Eventually I set Love and Truth as my God because why not give them one more name? And if they turn when I call, then I’ll know they’re one and the same.
