Every Week I Become a Bit More Disappointed
So I'll try to keep this mostly spoiler free. But I really feel like my choices dont matter in the grand scheme of things. Like it feels like the only choices that do matter is the choice of romance. That's about it.
I chose to keep Coupe over Sonar because I trained her in flight. Great so now what changes? Hmmm Malevola gets over it? oh in like less than two episodes? Wow wild. Hell she's even flirting with me.
Like all the minor impacts of things just does not feel like it matters at all. From what I can tell you still have the same story beats for the beginning and end of each episode. It doesn't matter in the long run.
and that's frustrating to me as someone who was excited to see how my choices impact the game. Instead we still get the same story beats no matter what. Games ten plus years ago did a better job with your choices mattering.
Until Dawn (came out 2015), Infamous series, fucking skyrim. All did a better job with our choices mattering in a long run of the story.
I get the game is from a new company and new team. BUT the team is also comprised of so many ex Telltale employees. They should know how to make our choices have more impact and branch out into bigger wider stuff. Maybe they ran out of budget? If so they should have probably not hired so many big name actors.
The story is well directed and the character design and character interaction is phenomenal.
however this could have been better server for a tv show or something rather than a video game.
a lot of people hope and want there to be a sort of infinite dispatching gameplay mode at the end of the game or post game. BUT the devs have already said that'd be really hard to implement with how the game is built but are looking into it.
so there is no long term gameplay loop after the story. Meaning what's the point of gameplay?
i just... i was a really big defender of the game when it first came out but now after 6 episodes im becoming more and more disappointed.
