Fell out of love

My ex and I broke up a few days ago. He told me he fell out of love with me but still cares a lot about me. He decided to break up with me due to him unloving me and me having a really bad mental health. Still we agreed, since we are currently long distance and he broke up with me on the phone, to go over it once again in a month face to face. To just elaborate the things we couldn’t say on the phone or came over wrong. I have been talking a lot with friends about it since i still deeply love him. I don’t want to give a 2 years relationship up. But it seems like he gave up. Still we are in no contact so i hope that till next month his feelings get more clear/ change for me. Is that a dumb think to do? I still have a lot of hope even tho he said to me he doesn’t love me anymore. How do guys process a break up?
