Xbox questions for a newbie

Hi all!

My son is asking for an Xbox, we currently have the switch. He’s 8 and I’m curious which Xbox would be best to buy him? Is the series S a good option? Will he be able to have access to a variety of games or should I look for a version that allows disc games too?
