Door previously kicked open

I recently bought a house that someone died in, and police had to kick the front door open. I didn’t know this until later when replacing weatherstripping, and noticed a crack in the door frame around the strike plate. A neighbor filled me in on the details. So anyways, it appeared to be pieced back together but not restored to its pre-kick condition. I'm not confident any strike plate or screw upgrades would improve things with wood that was already broken once. How big of a job would it be to fix and strengthen the frame?
