Canada peeps, insurance question

Hey everyone! I have a Canada specific insurance question. My husband works at a bank and his insurance provider is Sunlife. His insurance plan has allocated 15k/lifetime for each of us for fertility treatment purposes. Now, the problem is that this amount is not transferable, so we cannot use each other’s coverage here. It is a kinda stupid because for heterosexual couples men often do not go through fertility treatments except if they have to do a surgery or something similar. Most often its us women who are at the receiving end of all the meds and procedures, which basically means we only have the 15k coverage that is allocated to me and we can’t use any of the coverage of my husband because he is not the one receiving the treatment. Have any of you faced this issue? Is there anything that can be done to change this?
