Hey all, have a nearly 9 yo labradoodle. She's seemingly healthy with just symptoms of aging, but still runs daily with me, eats and drinks normally she has regular, normal bodily functions, and not weight change.
We recently took to the vet for immunizations and she previously had a borderline low albumin and borderline high serum protein (like 9 months ago), so vet recommended repeat. She now has a G:A of ~9:1, she's mildly anemic, moderately leukopenia and thrombocytopenic. Her SCr is 1.
Vet is roughly recommending a relatively broad work-up looking at tickborne illnesses, PLE, PLN, other inflammatory conditions, malignancy but in my mind this is only a handful of diagnoses all of which prognostically are relatively poor and at her age my wife and I are interested in minimizing diagnostic evaluation (for our own sanity and her safety) and minimizing intervention because we only ever anticipated getting 10-15 years out of her.
Does anyone have a thought of a likely, treatable pathology that could durable extend the quality and quantity of her life that would be pursuing diagnostically, or are the options pretty not great and should we just stick with our plan of minimal intervention?
We love our pets so deeply, that her loss will be exceedingly painful for us, but we also would never cause her to suffer for our own benefit but also don't want to cause suffering by ignoring treatable diseases.
