Fishing lines draped across Fort Myers Beach

Not sure where to post this or if this allowed but wanted to rant… Biking down the beach this evening and saw a few rods propped up in the sand far to our left (water to the right). Most looked like they were not being used with one fisherman visible out in the water so didn’t think anything of it. Kept biking and last second some dude up to left soooo casually says “oh there’s a line”. As we’re already biking into it… This line was crossing a good 80 feet of beach at sunset and there were tons of other people out walking and biking as well. On our way back 30 minutes later we assumed the line was gone as it was getting dark but nope! Still crossing the entire beach with no warning this time. A slight verbal altercation followed with them mentioning high tide and needing to have the poles there but there were so many people out walking and biking and that line was invisible… just curious if that’s normal and we were in the wrong??
