Seeing halos and having a hard time driving at night, Doc says not ready

Hey guys. So I'm told I have the very beginning of cataract. According to my doctor today, he said I am nowhere near ready to have cataract surgery. He was even thinking 10+ years out. I noticed at night. I'm having a heck of a time driving halos around lights and bright light shining at my eyes are really bugging me. What do you all do to help night driving? I certainly don't wanna jump on the surgery if the doctor is saying not yet
