Do I qualify for Medi-Cal?

Hello everyone!

It’s kind of a complicated situation….or at least complicated enough to where no information is on the gov websites.

I left my full time job (with paid benefits) to care for my son who is on the spectrum. I am currently working a new job that is very part time. I just found out that I was pregnant so I qualify for medi-cal (I’m in CA). This allows me to have coverage for up to a year after birth. I wanted to note, I will be leaving this job once I have my baby.

My boyfriend and I live together. But he does not claim me on his taxes. Just my son. After a year has passed will he have to claim me on his taxes since I won’t have any income therefore I will be considered a dependent in his household? Or can I still claim myself as my own household and still qualify for medi-cal?
