Transporting chickens

I made my base at the "OvO" farm, most of you may know the place. I'm trying to separate the chickens from the roosters, because I had an overcrowding problem and several animals died, my character got sick because of the dead chickens and everything. The question is, is there any way I can carry more than one chicken at a time? If there is no way to do this, is it too much work to kill several chickens at once? I say this because there are chicken coops that can fit 20 chickens but are 40/50. It took me a while to base myself in this place.
