How can I view my CBCT scan to analyze nasal cavity and turbinates? Any free viewer recommendations?

Hello,

I have a CBCT scan (in DICOM format), and I’m trying to understand my nasal airway better. Specifically, I’d like to:

  • Visualize the size/shape of my nasal cavity
  • See if my narrow upper palate might be contributing to airflow restriction
  • Check for possible enlarged turbinates

I tried using 3D Slicer and installed the Dental Segmentator plugin. It gave me a 3D skull model, but I couldn't see the nasal cavities or internal structures clearly the way I can in the 2D axial/coronal/sagittal slices. Also, it seems like the plugin doesn’t include an easy-to-use segmentation tool for the nasal passages or turbinates that would let me calculate volume or take measurements.

I’ve seen some of you share pictures of your nasal cavity airways here, how exactly are you extracting that view from your CBCT scans? Is it a particular software, plug-in or workflow?

Are there any free CBCT viewers or recommended 3D Slicer modules (like airway segmentation) that make this easy for beginners?

Would really appreciate any guidance, tips, or tutorial links.

Thanks.
