New phone

Hi all. Quick question in regards to changing the phone used for Omnipod (and Dexcom). My kids phone got damaged pretty badly at school. I was able to obtain a new one but I remember from when we went from pdm to phone, it made it be during a pump change. Does going phone to phone do the same? Also, if you have knowledge, does Dexcom make you do the same? Thanks all!
