When should I learn to serve? (Beginner, 18m)

General Advice

Hey all :) just wondering if there's generally a "right" time to learn how to serve?

I've played inconsistently for about a year now I think. I don't get to play much (1.5 hours a week on average probably,) and when I do play we just do short court and then back up to baseline and just feed, rally, repeat

Me and my fam (who I play with) are all new and are just trying to get down our ground-strokes still, as well as just all the other stuff, footwork, tracking, positioning, anything

I do feel a little weird about not knowing how to serve at all though. Like with all other shots, I understand a little bit but with the serve I legit have 0% understanding of how to do it. And every time I come here, I see clips of other beginners serving and asking for advice, and I feel behind 😭

Just wondering if I could get some insight. I'm also trying to get more comfortable with continental grip, trying to learning slices, volleys, and more control near the net. So maybe should I wait till I get better at those, and am more comfortable with continental?

I'm also wondering because I think it could be cool to practice my toss off the court, since I don't get to spend a lot of time on court, I feel like that could be a cool way to save time and progress faster. Only problem is I have no idea how to toss or how it is done correctly lol. So should I at least learn how to toss correctly, so I can just start practicing that whenever I'm bored and save some time? Sorry for the long and kind of stupid post
