I do nothing at my new job, should I quit?
I started a new full time job a month ago and I expected the learning curve to be pretty steep, which is fine, but I'm not doing anything. Training was supposed to be done on the job, by people doing it but everyone except one guy, says theyre too busy, or that parts are "too crucial" to be messed up by someone who doesn't know how to assemble/build them. On top of that, theres little to no instruction manuals, data collection/gathering in terms of errors or problems, or anything to help guide you if youre confused or new to the job.During my interview and first couple days of work they said I'd be assembling small laser/IR diodes among other small components but they literally have no work for me and as previously stated haven't been formally trained on anything except one robotics machine, that I rarely get to use (30-45 mins a day)because they only have one and "parts are crucialI". The same machine I was hired to operate. I've asked around if anyone needs help or an extra hand but its always "no, youre not trained on this", or "sorry, I'm just trying to bust this out really quick and dont have time this batch". My job has literally resorted to sitting in the corner of the robotics room staring at the wall because we arent allowed to use our phones due to ITAR and company secrets or whatever. When I ask my 3 bosses they simply reply "just go back upstairs and learn as much as you can", but it's like how? I'm never given the chance and my presence is obviously annoying to the people there because I'm not trained on anything.
I've been tracking my daily work duties things like, how long I do something, when, etc., and on average I do 1 hr of actual work a day if I'm lucky.
It's annoying cause what made me excited about this job is the pay is decent and it's 3 miles from my house but, everything else about the job is miserable at this point. Should I just cut my losses and quit and look for something better?
