I’m an over thinker

Hi! My son has been researching and saving for a corn snake for a while now.

I’ve never ever owned a snake before, I’ve never considered it, but my son is a very adhd, but very responsible (13yrs)nugget and has really proven how much he wants to take on the responsibility.

Anywho, he’s saved and earned about 250 to get started, and it seems like a good starting point, (please let me know if I’m wrong) so I’m planning to take the leap and get him started in bringing one home.

I’d like to get the tank and set up before finding the actual snake, I have a real problem over thinking and end up drawing a blank with too many options.
Based on what my son tells me, he needs -at least a 10 gal tank till the snake grows out of it, one that is secure and they can’t escape, a front opening tank would be easiest? -3 inches at least of substrate for burrowing, -a heating pad, -a temperature gauge? -A warming light? -Water dish, -things to climb on and burrow under look cool in his room…

Please let me know what are we missing, If there is a certain brand or style of a tank, light, substrate, heating pad, temperature gauge, accessories for the tank, I’d love your most opinionated, specific items you can give me! Tips, things to look out for once we get the snake, things to do. I would be so forever and ever grateful!
