Is this fix worth it?
I have a 2013 Toyota Prius Model C with 136k miles. Bought it from a friend. I love this car.
Recently the car shuttered while driving. The message read “Check hybrid system; pull to safety immediately.” The gas wouldn’t even make it go in electric mode.
The codes are reading TOA-1a and TOA-94.
Local mechanic is saying I’ll need to replace the hybrid battery. Quoted me for 2k including parts and labor, with one year warranty.
In your experience, when this kind of fix is needed, does the car start deteriorating overall? Does it become a money pit?
I had a car once that needed a big fix and then it was fix after fix.
Should I fix it and sell it? Or just scrap it? Or simple battery problem and it’s good after this?
Let me know your thoughts. Pretty bummed. Love this model of Prius.
