Questions about the Linux experience on certified Lenovo laptops

Hi,

I used to be a hardcore Linux user,, but I've been using MacBooks and Windows PC for the past decade, with Linux VMs when needed. I'm considering getting a Linux laptop but I would like to know how things have changed since.

One of my biggest issues when I was using Linux on (non-certified) laptops were the battery life being worse than on Windows, the extra tinkering for basic features, and most importantly, the sleep/hibernation features that were very unreliable.

I'm seeing videos about the SteamOS handhelds, and the sleep modes and stability are being praised. This makes me consider going back to Linux full time, but I'd like to hear some feedback from actual users Thinkpads and other certified Lenovo laptops.

Is the battery life still worse than on Windows and are you able to stay over a week or two without restarting your laptop and still have it wake up quickly. Are you getting a MacBook-like experience in this aspect?

Thanks
