Loss of use coverage from renter’s insurance.
I lost my apartment in the Palisades fire. I stayed in a hotel / Airbnb for 2 weeks then signed a 1 year lease on a new rental. I am now paying $700 more a month in rent (my old place was rent controlled). It was hard finding a new apartment with thousands of people looking at the same time. I just took what I could get.
My insurance paid for the hotel and Airbnb and then closed my claim. One of my old neighbors says my loss of use can go towards my spiked rent. I’ve only used $2k out of my $12k loss of use. What do you guys think ?
