What do I do with this BlackBerry battery?

Pulled out a BlackBerry classic with my own hands, I was careful while doing it. I'm just wondering if this can explode for no reason even though its disconnected. Its not swollen or anything but it smells similar to ink. What do I do with it and is it safe to just put away this battery in normal conditions in a plastic bag?

If your wondering why I pulled it out, its because I got a error saying the battery is bad and the phone wouldn't turn on
