Online, Wednesdays 5 pm PST, Beyond the Stars-Traveller (M-2E)
Using the Mongoose 2nd Edition, Traveller system, this game will be set in its own Universe with influences from across the genre. Expanse and Firefly leanings, with smatterings of Cowboy Bebop, Stargate, Babylon 5 and BSG, Foundation and others, but all parts combined to hopefully create an epic space adventure, travelling and exploring the known and unknown across the Galaxy, be it planet-side or beyond.
The group will likely be part of a corporation or have a well-to-do sponsor of some kind at the beginning (Depending on various factors and/or Benefits obtained during character generation), initially planet-side, with possible access to a ship of some kind. The players may be explorers/adventurers, scoundrels, mercenaries or even couriers and fill various multi-role aspects from all kinds of lifestyles, the all-round classic "Travellers", involved in a little bit of everything to earn a living as they travel the stars.
The general tech level will be between 6 and 9 for most civilized planets, with (10-12) at the topmost end of the spectrum for only the richest and most prolific powers that be (at least those that are known of). Law levels vary from system/sectors, planet to planet, and even spheres of power.
While the vast majority of the game will probably revolve around humanity's area of expansion into the stars and the trials and tribulations of such, there will be alien cultures and creatures to fill those newly explored and unexplored planets and the emptiness of space to encounter. But the players will be limited to Humanity and some of its variations/chimeras for play. (With approval)
There is no ultimate defining empire that has taken over or controls everything, at least not yet... but there are several central powers that control their areas of the galaxy. Who knows what else is out there?
While the game is based on Traveller systems and mechanics, there will be some variations and deviations from the RAW to fit the setting. Psionics will be modified (no Psi community or career to start without the event), and everyone has a chance to be Latent Psi. Certain technologies will be reassigned and others removed as required for this Campaign.
Campaign Brief
When the Aurelian Union collapsed at the dawn of the age known as the fracture
(0 AU), Its eight constituent sub-sectors were left without coordination. The Architect Network, a distributed intelligence designed to unify the Union, was fragmented, then went offline, plunging the Sectors into declining dark ages and wars over technology that decimated the jump and trade networks, leaving entire areas up to their own devices.
The Domitian Reach Sector lies along the old trade arcs of the Union, bridging two sub-sectors
J: Inner Reach and K: Central Concord, which would become the cradle of the Reach’s successor states. These surviving colonies weathered centuries of isolation, intermittent war, and rediscovery.
The Domitian Sector lies on the western rim of known space, a fractured expanse of decaying empires, fading trade routes, and frontier ambition.
Once the proud heart of the multi-sector empire, it has seen five centuries of decline following the Union Collapse, and regional powers rose to fill the void.
Now, three great powers, the Star Kingdom of Domitian, the Davenport Conglomerate, and the Confederation of Worlds, cling to their legacy, while a reborn world called Lena and the United Star Vanguard struggle to unify the remnants.
Despite this, travel between systems continues. Traders, mercenaries, and explorers, the Travellers cross these fading frontiers in search of fortune, freedom, or the secrets of forgotten technology.
*🜂 Issued under the authority of the United Star Vanguard – Domitian Sector Briefing Office. For registered Travellers, accredited Scouts, and recognized free captains only.*
