Can anyone recommend the CC as a second printer?

Misc

Hey yall. I bought an Ender 3 V3 SE as my first printer this March. Despite some growing pains, I've actually really enjoyed this printer. I've only ever printed with PLA and PLA+.

I bought it so I can build physical models for my university. I've also had a lot of fun printing my own projects. I did buy an enclosure to just keep the dust out. Apparently, PLA doesn't print all that well when fully enclosed, so I just keep the top flap off.

And I've had my eye on the CC for months now. Fully enclosed, core yx. But there are some concerns despite the low price point. First there was some of problem with the chain scratching the top? Then it was the lights. Now there's something about a cable that might catch on fire? And it seems like every new production batch fixes a previous issue.

Now this is concerning because if I decide to order the printer, I don't know which batch they'll ship out. I'm not even sure what the procedure is for replacing these things is. And I really don't want to order a printer with the full knowledge that I'll need to wait another month for "update" parts.

I know the printer also has a carbon filter and an optional 3d printed attachment for a hepa filter. I don't actually stay in the same room with my current printer but it would be really nice to be able to print with engineering filaments safely, so that's why I'm gravitating towards the CC.

And I guess the most practical reason is that it's simply faster than my current one. Now I never really planned on multi-color filaments. I know an AMS-style module was promised but they've decided to just make a new version. I'm not even sure if I could afford the CC2.

At the end of the day, I can't really complain that much. You do get what you pay for. I guess my real question is should I upgrade or stay with my Ender 3 V3 SE?
