Is the main/paid game better than the Redsec F2P bit?

I played shitloads of BF3 back in the day, given the free mode on BF6 a go and honestly it just feels like a clone of Warzone/DMZ. I've only seen a lot of negative feedback about the size of the maps in the main game - does it still play like a Battlefield game?
