Multiple Samsung fridge failures & repairs, warranty up soon, support is awful, what can i do?
I have a 36" Samsung bespoke fridge, model number RF24BB6200QLAA
The warranty is up on November 20th. In mid Sepetember, I noticed the fridge was room temperature inside. The control panel said it was 3c in the fridge and -19c for the freezer, but both were warm and the food in my freezer was thawing. I unplugged and plugged the unit back in and after a bit it started cooling again, but once it got to target temp, it seemed to stop cooling and I found it hours later warm again. Sometimes it would stay cool for a day or two, but often would only stay cool for a few hours.
Contacted support and after a long battle they finally scheduled a tech to come out. Took a few days, had to throw a lot of food away. He said there was a "gas leak" (coolant? not sure, i don't know much about fridges) and he fixed it and it was working again for about a month.
A couple days ago it stopped working again, same issue, but worse, it won't even stay cool for a few hours anymore. I basically have to unplug and replug it back in every couple hours, and sometimes it doesn't even start cooling again, it's just a gamble.
Contacted support, they scheduled another tech but by the time the tech gets here i'm going to have to throw a lot of food away again. I tried to escalate but they don't care. "I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, if there's something we could do, we would". Just scripted, AI generated answers non-stop, so frustrating.
Im worried that they're just going to stall me with repairs that don't work until the warranty is over, then I'm either going to have to pay for service myself or buy a whole new fridge. It's insane. My parents have a fridge in their basement that's been there since I was in diapers and it's still running. My new fridge can't even make it a year.
Support is cold, scripted, AI generated trash. No sense of urgency. I even told them my baby's breast milk in the fridge had to be thrown away and the ones in the freezer are thawing and will need to be disposed of as well if the issue isn't resolved shortly. They didn't care.
What are my options here to minimize costs? Can I push for a replacement? this fridge seems like a lemon. My neighbour has the exact same model and has no issues. Just with the way their support treats me, I doubt they're going to give or offer me a replacement.
I'm in Canada. is there any consumer protection laws or anything? I couldn't find any in my research but I have two babies at home and don't get a lot of time to dig deep into this
Also happy to go into any details of the problem if appliance savvy people think we can fix it. I've done a lot of troubleshooting, it almost seems like the temperature thinks the temp of the fridge is something it's not, so it stops cooling. Like it thinks its 3c so it stops cooling and then it warms up to room temp. The tech didn't seem to care when I told him this though.
Thanks in advance for any advice
