The DASH diet killed my afternoon slump but was it the salt or just eating real food?
I started the DASH diet for blood pressure, but two weeks in something weird happened — my 3 PM crash basically disappeared. No caffeine, no sugar scramble, just steady energy.
For anyone who hasn’t looked into it, DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) is all about cutting sodium. But I didn’t go hardcore. I just ditched most processed stuff, added beans and veggies, and used salt a little smarter.
The funny thing? I think the boost came less from eating less salt and more from eating less junk. Once I stopped relying on deli meat and sauces for flavor, everything else felt easier — even sleep and focus.
Now I’m wondering: is DASH really about sodium, or is it just “eat like a grown-up” in disguise?
