Recent IT grad getting SDR interviews easily — what opportunities should I actually be looking for?
Hey everyone,
I’m a recent IT grad who has 8+ years of experience as a restaurant server. I’ve recently decided to pursue a career in sales and have been getting SDR/BDR interviews very easily. I have an offer at a staffing firm to start an 8 week SDR training program then become an account executive assuming I perform well which sounds like a good path on paper.
But here’s where I’m stuck:
I don’t want to end up in the wrong industry just because I got in easily. I’ve noticed a lot of SDR work is in staffing/recruiting, and I’m trying to figure out if that’s something I’d actually believe in long-term, or if I’d be better off targeting SaaS / tech sales / something with more technical alignment given my background.
I would appreciate anyone who can provide me with insights/advice.
