As a mage player coming from wow how hard is Elementalist?

Hello! Was recently looking a getting into guild wars 2 and was looking at picking up elementalist as my starting class, but watched a lot of videos talking about how hard the class is. Was just curious as an Arcane/fire mage player in wow what the comparison was and if not elementalist what class plays the most similar?
